What colleges have masters degrees in social work?

There are many colleges around the United States in which you can receive your Master’s Degree in social work. Here are just a select few with a little bit of information about each one.

Adelphi University in New York City is medium sized college. This is a private college. The size of the college is from 2000-50000 undergraduates. The average tuition is $23,000 a year. On-campus housing is available. Andrews University is another college, which is located in Berrien Springs, Michigan. This is a private college and there are under 2000 undergraduates. The tuition is roughly $19,000. On-campus housing is available.


Alabama A & M University is a large public university with 5,000 to 10,000 undergraduates. It is located in Normal, Alabama. The average tuition is $7,500 a year. On-campus housing is available. Barry University in Miami, Florida also has Master’s Degrees in social work. This college is a large Catholic institution with about 5-10,000 undergraduates. This is a private school and it is about $25,000 a year. On-campus housing is available.

What is social work?

Social work is a field of science which is connected with practical implementation of definite social issues. It includes a wide range of knowledge about the human society; functioning of social institutes and separate individuals each of them being an integral part of the society. Moreover, social work can be defined as personal service to people which is directed on timely exposure and seeking ways of effective solution to emergent problems of an individual, family, group of people or society on the whole. It must be mentioned, that the main goals of the professional activity of any specialist on social work are to: take care of quality of life of individuals (families, society groups and other objects of social work); develop the potential of every person and a lot of others.
